๐Ÿงน Cleaning rotation: reset the house one room at a time

A cleaning rotation cycles through your rooms one visit at a time: spend 15 focused minutes on one room, mark it done, and next time the rotation hands you the next room. There's no weekly schedule to fall behind โ€” whenever you find a spare quarter hour, the loop already knows whose turn it is.

Why cleaning schedules collapse

Most cleaning plans die one of two deaths. The first is the Saturday deep clean โ€” the four-hour blitz you keep promising next weekend, where one busy Saturday wipes out the whole month. The second is the calendar app that insists Tuesday is bathroom day, then nags you on the Tuesday you're away, unwell, or just not having it โ€” and quietly stacks up guilt either way.

A rotation sidesteps both, because ODDALoop advances by attendance, not by calendar (ODDA = Open ยท Do ยท Done ยท Advance โ€” more in the about page). The loop doesn't care what day it is, only which room is next. Skip a week and nothing resets and nothing piles up โ€” the bathroom is still patiently next in line.

The rotation

This page mirrors the House reset template built into the app: four rooms, one per visit, 15 minutes on the clock. The timer is the assignment โ€” when it rings, you're done, whatever state the room is in. The checklist just keeps those 15 minutes pointed at the right things.

  1. Kitchen โ€” 15-minute speed clean
    • Clear counters
    • Dishes away
    • Wipe surfaces
    • Take out trash
  2. Bathroom โ€” 15-minute speed clean
    • Sink + mirror
    • Toilet
    • Fresh towels
    • Floor once-over
  3. Living room โ€” 15-minute speed clean
    • Clear surfaces
    • Cushions + blankets
    • Quick vacuum
    • Water the plants
  4. Bedroom โ€” 15-minute speed clean
    • Make the bed
    • Clothes away
    • Clear the nightstand
    • Open a window

After the bedroom, the loop wraps back to the kitchen โ€” house reset, rotation complete, start again whenever.

Make it yours

The template is a starting point, not a contract. Add a hallway, office, or entryway stage; shorten the timer to 10 minutes on tired days or stretch it to 25; split a big room into two stages (Kitchen: surfaces and Kitchen: floors can each be a perfectly honest 15 minutes). Edit the checklists to match what your rooms actually need.

ODDALoop is free, needs no account, and works offline โ€” it's an installable web app, so it's one tap from your home screen with a bucket in your other hand. An optional account adds sync across devices. There are no streaks to protect: just the next room, whenever you show up.

The same one-stage-per-visit shape powers the workout rotation; the morning routine is its run-the-whole-thing-in-one-sitting cousin. Browse everything on the templates page, or check the FAQ for the practical details.

Pick the House reset template in the wizard, tweak the rooms, and your rotation is running in under a minute.
